Junior Badminton and Coaching

Children of all ages can really benefit from playing badminton. Not only
an outlet for their boundless energy, but also from the discipline of
learning a sport and the social interaction of the game. At Limpsfield
LTC juniors are very welcome and we teach badminton to juniors from
around 8 right up to adulthood.
Limpsfield LTC’s Badminton section’s junior policy is to give as many
juniors as possible the opportunity of playing badminton and to give the
necessary opportunities and advice to those players who wish to take
their game further.
We
enter junior badminton teams into local leagues and juniors are
encouraged to enter tournaments of a suitable standard. For more
information, please speak with the
Club Badminton Coach, Derek Broom on 07947 145475. Please
note only club members can play in a club team.
Junior Badminton Coaching
Badminton coaching
is offered (subject to court time being available) to those
players who are enthusiastic and dedicated during the Saturday sessions
and who are willing to work to improve their game.
The club has an excellent record of coaching juniors to county level and
higher and has a positive policy of encouraging juniors through into
senior club and match play. Older junior
badminton members are encouraged to participate in club sessions and are also
active in taking part in the club tournaments.
All of our club coaches hold relevant coaching qualifications and have
undergone a sports governing body initiated CRB check.

Junior Coach-led Club Badminton Sessions
Junior
badminton club sessions are held every Saturday for most of the year and are led by Derek Broom. Players are divided into groups by
standard so that games are evenly matched and are open to any player
aged 8 to 18. The sessions have a high playing content rather than
intensive coaching. There are mini-tournaments and a semi-competitive
ladder system every week.
Saturday Badminton Groups
There
is a fee of £2.00 per week and players must also become members of the
club.
From
time to time, due to the popularity of the Saturday junior badminton coaching
sessions, we have to operate a waiting list. For further information
please contact the Badminton Coach Derek Broom on
07947 145475.
Fitness
Badminton is an energetic sport which requires a reasonable level of
fitness. If a player has any health or fitness problems, or any medical
condition, then please ensure that the coach is informed at the first
session. Naturally every care is taken to ensure the safety and
well-being of the players. However, as in any sport, injuries can occur
and it is important that parents are aware of this.
Junior Badminton Holiday Camps
The club
also runs a programme of fun and instructional badminton camps during
the school holidays. Please keep an eye on the website and Badminton
notice board for dates.
Club Byelaws
Please note that as a Club our junior members are most welcome, however in
respect to other members and in line with our Club Byelaws:
-
Junior Members of the Club may not use the clubroom after 6pm in
winter and 7.30pm in summer unless they are on the premises for the
purpose of playing sport or when accompanied by an adult member.
-
Junior Members may introduce a guest only for the purpose of playing
tennis, squash, badminton or table tennis.
-
Members who bring children to the Club must ensure that they are
